Cherry Blossom Trees

On April 10th, I attended the annual Cherry Blossom Festival at Fairmount Park. Below, are two types of cherry trees I observed.

Weeping Cherry (Prunus subhirtella)

 -Most have brightly pink flowers
-Branches droop down, sometimes to the ground
-Relatively easy to grow and maintain

Yoshino Cherry (Prunus x yedoensis)

-Grows 5-12 m tall
-Produces fragrant light pink or white flowers
-Used for ornamental purposes
